Put more than two AI cars on the track with me and the frames drop to nothing. the more AI cars i add the slower the game gets.

It needs fixing. will have to wait.

I think the reason you are seeing slow down far worse than the rest of is is because of your single core P4 3.2. With ATI cards you need a Core i7/i5 to get your minimum frame rate above 30. Pity they didn't put the actual minimum or even recommended specs on the box. EA = Dirty cheating b'stards!!!

Looking at the "updated" systems specs a P4 doesn't meet the minimum reqs for Shift. One core of a 2.0 GHz Core 2 will out perform a 3.2 GHz P4 under most workloads. http://www.needforspeed.com/web/nfs-na/blogs/need-for-speed-news/-/nfsblogs/207737?authorId=21501

Because they changed the minimum specs after the game came out, you should be able to ask for your money back.

3hd4870 bla bla and you cant run the game?

Im using an OC HD4870512mb with a Q9550 and most of the tracks run perfect with game maxed out including AA at 8x.

Some tracks though run with bad fps..

I have this info....dont know if its real or not...
Some of the issues addressed in the next patch:

1. ATI frame rate issue

2. PS3 frame rate issue

3. Bouncing Car Issues

4. Upgraded online racers from 8 people to 12 people.

The quote is here - http://www.nfsunlimited.net/community - at 17:30 on the 4th podcast.

The announcement from VancouverBlade was 17 days ago, so hopefully we should see something in the next week or 2.

Fingers crossed!!!!

Sorry didnt mean to get everyone's hopes up too much. This is just an announcement but at least it puts meat on the bones that the patch is definitely imminent, and that part of the patch will apparently address ATI performance issues. Just how much, we'll all have to see.

On second reading "- Improved ATi graphics card support " is a bit of a woolly statement. It's not improved support that we need, it's improved performance.

The dynamic vertex buffering thing could be the reason we see crap performance with loads of cars visable or blinging tracks. I've done a bit of reading, and if it's setup wrong then it can screw performance.

Yeah, whatever. Ian's clear statement was a lawyer speaking, EA's guy is obviously a sheep farmer

It seems clear that no matter how many times you read the same thing written in a slightly different way you talked yourself into a corner about the whole ATI subject anyway...

It's fixed, patched, improved, yadda yadda yadda....and on its way to us. Get over it.

Matt, can't help thinking that you're being a touch pedantic, its just common developer speak thats all. I'm keeping an open mind, only because this is an unusual one. Purely just in terms of FPS performance, this is not a poorly coded game as anyone who's seen it running on an nVidia equipped PC will testify. In this case, the performance of ati equipped pc's has been sabotaged and just needs to 'unsabotaged' - if thats possible obviously. In fact, I'm reasonably optmistic - the last time I bought a game that ran this badly was Saints Row 2 but that situation was different. It never got fixed as the actual code for PC was an abomination, so the furore over it eventually died down and the developer lost interest. This, on the other hand, is 'just' a case of optimising the code for a popular piece of hardware. If I'm wrong, I'll hold my hands up.

I'm not trying to prove a point or anything. I really hope it's fixed. I was just pointing out that when describing the PS3 version we got a nice specific statement, compared to a little more lawyer speak about the PC version.

It probably will mean absolutely nothing and Shift might finally work for me with the new patch, I'm just saying what I see.
