I changed my settings from visual damage to full damage, and it seemed to me, that the AI drivers were much more cautious. I experienced much less bumps and intentional rams from AI drivers. Can anyone else confirm this?

I'm not entirely sure this would matter however maybe either you are a little more cautious of them or they may be a little more cautious of each other... Possibly a bit of both even.
I find that in the majority of cases the major prangs are AI to AI and not something I am usually involved in instigating but may end up running into or locking the brakes to avoid...
I do sometimes get the occasional bump which drops me a few positions or have a bit of a jostle to maintain a position but maybe 8 times out of ten I come out okay at the other end. I always try to be aware of track position and what's going on around me though so maybe it is I who is being too cautious at times to avoid race ending bingles.

im gonna try this when i get home. this is most likely true because they coould blow there car up or ruin it. when its less damage or none, then they can act like hackers and not care what happens or how many times they flip.

I've always played with full damage on and never had a problem with agressive AI like a lot of people mention here. I also play medium difficulty so assumed the AI was more aggressive in hard.
Also I drive respectful of the AI and for the most part they do the same, occassional bumps and such but no real ramming or stopping short for no reason.

Ive always used full damage but the A.I do attack still sometimes and get past me,
Def seen some unbelievable rare but awesome overtakes by the A.I on Bathurst,
where on the chase (Elite Handling, A.I Hard, Car = Dodge Charger RT, No tuning only improved body-kit)
the A.I have been unbelievably brave,
they past me within an inch of a wall and an inch of my car without a touch,
my jaw has dropped a few times just how good there driving skills can be when the do try!
when there great they really are indeed...legendary!

You know, I realised I had damage turned off for the last few races as I was attempting sub 1:50.xxx hot laps on Bathurst and was getting a few laps in of a 10 - 15 minute session before crashing out and voiding any times I'd posted.
Ended up managing a 1:52.xxx in the end (only around 8 seconds off the world record )
I'd completely forgotten I'd turned damage off as I've not had any serious smashes for a little while. How I've managed that I don't know but I noticed it late last night while getting through the drifting events. Since starting the game I always used Elite handling and full damage.
I'm gonna test it out on the Zonda invitationals today and see if I can fight for and maintain position with them on Monza, SPA and Bathurst as the last time I tried they were just too fast and I maybe again just a little too cautious.
Edit: Nope... As far as I can tell the AI were as agressive as ever. Might have something to do with the events I tried but all in all I was being aggressed as much as in any other race without damage enabled...
