Poll Added..

Just curious to who uses what and why.

Personally I use a logitech gamepad, getting a new rumblepad soon, I dont really see all the fuss about wheels and pedals, I can keep up with most people with a pad, plus doubt I would find a wheel useful now im so used to gamepad physics.

Wheel cause it's car game I wanna feel like i'm driving a real car as much as possible, just like when i play bf2 i use a X52 saitek to fly choppers and jets. Just like it that way, keyboards bore and confuse me and game pads are, well, are something i'm only just getting to using on a 360 but still prefer a wheel hands down, it's all about precision

ill happily race any wheel users online so I can see this big difference with my own eyes...doubt id buy a wheel unless there was a big difference in times.

Wheel.

Because I have more control over the car, throttle, and brake. A wheel gives you a level of precision that a regular controller just can't match.
I used to be pretty good at racing games with just a controller, but after getting used to a wheel... I just can't go back. I got faster too.

Game Pad. I don't have to bolt it down to a coffee table made out of metal and glass (which is good because my wife would kill me if I did) and they last longer when held by me.

Wheel, for the feel of it

But I find the keyboard to be 'simpler' in a way to use. But that must be from years of keyboard and mouse use.

The wheel does give you that precision/subtlety that you need for corners, especially coming out of corners, and it gives you the sensation/immersion that you're driving a kick * BMW, which in real life I wont.

Oh, also the pedals play a huge part.

I use a gamepad, the rumblepad 2, just because I'm used to it from all those years playing with a gamepad ever since the NES. and because the only wheel I would want is the g25 but it's a bit to expensive for me....

I use a wheel and I have done so for more than ten years. Even if I was faster with a gamepad, I still would go for the wheel since it’s just so much more fun.

I don´t want I feel like I´m driving an electric wheelchair. In a racing game only a wheel can give me immersion and fun.

PS: I think a gamepad is actually faster then a wheel. (shorter lock to lock distance it takes time to turn a wheel especially with force feedback enabled) same as driving assists off or on; assists on may be faster but it kills the experience.

I that the closer a racing game is to a simulator, the bigger the advantage you get from using a wheel. I mean, how often does a real race car go from extreme right to extreme left in the shortest possible time? If it was possible to do this with a 0.1 second push of a thumb, then you’d lose control of the car in a big way. Honestly, I can’t think of a single time where I felt that I couldn’t move the wheel fast enough. The only exception might be during drifting, but I just stay clear of this mode.

Well okay it comes with it's own set of issues(where to put it) but no clamping to the desk for me
