Could it be? The first RWD converted R35 to go sideways on a professional circuit? Me thinks so!

Maybe it was a mistake converting it to RWD, can't you drift with an AWD. Good work though, cunning little Japanese they are

You can drift in a AWD but I highly doubt that he is going to drift in a AWD in Formula D..

Formula Drift does not allow vehicles with drivetrains other then RWD to enter competition. AWD while often refered to as a drift while engaged in a slide cannot technically drift per say. Regardless of how you torque the center differential, the front wheels are always active and assist in pulling the rear of the vehicle around making the manuever a controlled powerslide as opposed to a sustained drift.

I was wondering when an R35 drift car would be built. I saw this earlier today and thought it was pretty cool. The team is planning to stroke the VR38 to 4.0L, or so I've heard. For now, though, they've dropped in a temporary tuned VQ35.

From what I understand, the stroker kit for the VR38 could be anywhere from 4.0-4.5 liters. The 350Z engine they are using now is a worked in-house (named by the shop VQ40) stroked to 4.0 liters from 3.5.
