Woooow, really?

How about EA make a patch that will allow me to actually run the game?

Better yet, how about EA refund me for the hours of my life lost trying to negotiate their poorly coded software.

Sorry, i'm not trying to be cynical here, i just wish they would stop wasting my time and hard earned $.

I may be able to help you get your game running, if it is on PC.

I got my friend's demo running, even though he couldn't get past the loading screen without my help.

So you're on PC!

How far does the game launch for you?

Actually, I am yet to see any more than the 2 spalsh screens, the safety warning and the language options. My rig meets all the minimum requirements -(GPU 7950 gt, C2D E6600 @ 2.4 GHz, 2GB Ram, XP Home Sp3) and i have the latest gpu drivers and PhysX updates. Nothing running in the background, firewall is not blocking the game either.

I only get as far as the safety message about seatbelt/helmet then CTD with an error report - "Shift.exe has encountered a problem and needs to blah blah blah....".

I purchased the game online through Steam, so no disk. Steam support say it's a third party problem and that i need to pursue EA.

meh.

Sorry to keep you waiting...

My friend had the same situation!

Go to C:\Users\are_ea_serious\Documents\NFS SHIFT in other words "My Documents\NFS SHIFT" and open graphicsconfig.xml in notepad...

Then replace these lines......or fill in the values from that code.

Hopefully your game will start and you get to the options. When you change graphics options, only change one at the time, so you will know, if you try to change the value that stops the game from running.

Jussi

PS. Let us know, if this got your game running!

Thank's for the response, i had already tried resetting the graphicsconfig.xml to similar settings.

I had some progress and made the test lap but soon got the "shift.exe" error again....and game ctd.

I tried it again after resetting to the values you posted above ^ but it gave me the same results.

Hmm...

So you can start the game...

Can you do a full race?

It may very well be a soundcard problem too. Most of my problems with games hanging and such have been caused by my onboard soundcards.

Wonder where you can choose amount of sound channels and sample rate and such?

If you have not already try this. Reinstall the demo on top of the current installation, Shift demo should give you the option to "fix" the current installation. Choose to fix it, that did the trick for me.

Oshaylinux- i have the full version, not the demo.

Jussi - nope, cant run a full race either.

Soundcard now...meh, why dont i just reformat the partition, remove all the hardware, and pray that the game patches itself.
