The NFS: Shift QA team have offered up some insight into Drifting in NFS Shift. If your stuck and having some trouble with this challenging game mode, read on:

1. It's important to choose a car that suits your driving style. Try out a few cars and pick one that suits your style best.

2. Successful drifting involves counter-steering. Once you begin to lose rear tire grip, you need to turn the wheel in the opposite direction you're moving in to continue the drift.

3. Figure out how to achieve perfect clipping points. Drift as close to the corners of the track as you can. Getting close is good, bumping them is better. When you combine these with the 2x multiplier, you can get plenty of extra points - it's very important to keep the 2x multiplier up. If you fail a corner, don't get discouraged, attempt the next corner quickly to maintain your multiplier.

4. Do not drive 'full throttle'. Learn how to properly 'feather' the throttle during your drift, keeping the rear end at a perfect point to make sure you maintain grip loss. When you feel your car beginning to spin out, release the throttle and balance yourself back into position.

5. You need to know the courses you're drifting on. Getting used to entry speeds for each corner is important, it will allow you to swing straight through and keep up your drift. Also, follow the red/white arrows, following the angles they suggest. The arrows will show you the best angles to enter turns.

point 4 is really funny for ppl without analog input-devices. e.d. if you use a button for accelerating on your joypad.

btw: most of tracks are much to narrow.
to learn drifting you'd nee much more space - maybe an extra test-track.
all the time i'm colliding with the guardrails. e.d. @ ebiso touge

another problem is the 3 sekond setting. make it like underground - you could drive back as far as you wanted and try the corner again, to amster the ones, you didnt pass already.

another problem is the loss of grip.
its much to difficult to accellerate without spinning.
so many ppl dont get enougth speed to make a good drift.

and the BIGGEST problem: the tracks are to short to learn anything.
after 15 seconds you have to wait at least 30 seconds to drive again...

next problem: there is no tutorial, that shows you when to do what. a small video would be good.

the last problem are the bugs.
i cant hear engine noice, when i choose drift in quickrace...

btw: the ai is able to drift with non-drift-cars like the evo...

Drifting in this game was definately more challenging then other Need for Speed games, perhaps evn most games.
It can be done though.....Heres a couple pointers for you..

when entering a drift do a realease od accelerator then hit the gas as u start turning(it will take you a bit to learn how ot to spin out doing this technique)

if you are not getting enough speed in drift add more torque to tires (just shift up)

It took me three hours to prefect my drifting on this game now im getting 2000+ a lap

perfect speed, perfect angle, perfect gear is the key...
i always play online drift mode with stock cars , some car is easy to maintain drift, some car easy spin out.
bt i like use the car below to drift:

BMW M3 (the old version)
Nissan 370Z (stock)
Toyota corolla AE 86 (tuned myslf)

a tips is, dont enter a conor too fast...

hey all good to see ppl talking abou drifting, sum of u may know me as MR MONKEY BAWZ, im on drift any time i can, couple of tips for that guy using they 3 cars, that M3 dont turn fast enough, they 370Z turns way to fast and has too much power, and that corola well just sell that now, lol, it dont get the points, on the drift cars dont change to much in the tuning from default change to much and it will screw the car up,just consentrate on changing the tire pressure, gears, and downforce, and dont put works on the cars, and TORQUE when is this patch coming out?? have fun drifting all, look for me on ranked and unranked,
