Im just curious as to what everyone is using and how they are tuning their cars. obviously some tuning setups are suited to short tracks and some to long tracks.
do people prefer using a car close to the limit and upgrading slightly, or using a car way down with a lot more upgrades?
I think its a pain you can only have each car once!

For 4.0 Online Races, I just use what ever default vehicles are provided. I don't see too many of these racings, so I havent bothered creating a car for this rating yet.
However, for 6.0, I use the Nissan Skyline. Not the default one, but the older one that has a default rating of 1.3(?). I tuned it up to 5.99, and did some handling adjustments, and haven't had too much problem with winning, except for tracks that have long straits. I am going to try and create another car for 6.0 that is better with bigger tracks, and I will post more info when I find anything.

im kinda on the same level of thinking.
my first 6.0 car was an evo with a slight upgrade, but this allowed me not much tuning, so now im running a TT quattro with a few upgrades that allow me to tune the bits i want, although like you i feel this is set up better for shorter twistier tracks and i lose out on long tracks like nordshleife etc. i did try with a golf and doing all the upgrades but it was pretty crap.
i upgraded the evo even more to my 10.0 car, and thats working better in that catagory.
my 4.0 is the escort which has a few upgrades on, and its working out quite nice.
i personally prefer racing at the lower classes as i feel the racing is a lot closer and more even, but still has a lot of variety in the cars being used

I was racing a guy last nite in a 6.0 race, he had a MX-5 tricked to the 6.0 limit and nothing could catch him. Must have worked hard on his gear ratios because at Spa he was like a rocket in the straights

Nos does a lot for a car, especially those 6.0'ers. If you can find a good gear ratio, and if your car accepts nos very well (doesn't bog down), then you can typically use nos at the best moments to gain optimal speed.
Think of it like having a very long 5th and 6th gear, but using nos to, in return, make them 'short' and quirky in a way.

I have finally found a ride for 4.00 that can outrun the competition when tuned right. The Nissan 240SX. Currently working on tuning the handling to prevent overstear.
I uploaded pics of my 240SX on the web site below. Check em' out if you want.
I also find a new ride for 6.00, the Honda Civic. Currently working on tuning its gear ratio, but its handling is great for a FWD vehicle. Will upload pics when I get a chance.

I race my renault. I'm maxed at the 4.0. I use nos and worked the suspension a bit. not much in the gearing department. does great for me.
I'm not one of those guys with the 14.00 and the unrestricted. most I do race is the 14 with my audi r8, but that's maxed at 13.2.
PS, the Scion sucks for 4...made that mistake once..lol

Oh yes! The more parts the better; ALWAYS! in 4.0 I use a Sirocco with enough parts to tune suspension and tanny. in 6.00 I use either the E36 or the G35 (both 3 seconds (on average) ahead of the R34 without nitrous) . NEVER EVER take a car who's rating is close to the limit you wish to acquire. The car will bog down somewhere you dont want to. However, these car with little room for improvement seem to handle nitrous better than the low end cars.
