BOUNCING CAR PROBLEM, ERRADIC PHYSICS, and MISC GLITCHES THREAD

I have found a major problem with the game that many of you are probably starting to notice, and that is that on many of the higher level invitational events, as well as on many cars in general (regardless of event), there are bizarre bouncing issues or generally erradic behavior that makes the game completely unplayable. What will happen is that the car will start bouncing and won't stop, only getting worse and worse, bouncing you off track like hydraulics! The car will hit a small bump on the track and almost get stuck in a programming loop error or something.

As far as the erradic behavior of some of the other cars, like the E46M3 and EVO X, they do bizzare things like sliding forward with understeer and yet fishtailing at the same time, or spinning out erradically with normal brake usage, or bouncing excessively on shifts, etc. What's funny with this, and why it's so obvious that it's programming errors (or badly programmed model-specific physics) is that many of the cars in this game feel great and very spot on, while some feel horrendously bad and flat out poorly programmed.

The good news with this, however, is that these are clearly programming errors and that hopefully means patches will be in the works soon, making this game much more realistic and much more enjoyable. Also, EA... if you're listening, please fix the bug where the girl with the flag is clipping inside of the car at the start of the race, as well as the fact that when you hit the "a" button to skip the sequence, it selects the gear in the process. If you're playing with inverse shifting enabled, this puts you into reverse at the start of the race! If anyone else has any problems that need patching, please use this thread so that EA can find all of this info as quickly and efficiently as possible, thanks.

I would like to know for what system you noticed this problem? I am on PC and not as far as you so I can say for sure if this is the case.

I am on the XBOX 360, so I am not sure if these problems are present on the PC version or not. My first inclination is to say that it's universal, but I have no idea. Oh, and add the replay camera to the list of problems. On certain tracks, it loses view of the car for insanely long periods of time. This is a great game, but my god does it have some MAJOR release bugs. They should've caught most of this stuff before the game was released. C'mon EA, I know that you guys wanted to release ASAP to get the jump on Forza 3, but these are some serious oversights...

I'm playing on the PS3 and I'm having the EXACT same problems. I'm glad I'm not the only one getting frustrated with this.

No matter what I do for settings, EVERY car bounced around like it has hydraulics. There are also NUMEROUS bugs in the game. Did the testing team even play the game?

This is ridiculous.

No the PC survives the attack of the bumps so far. Worse though is the fact that using a keyboard = unplayable.

GIMME MY NFSU controls for keyboard back. At least you could have precision with cornering in that game!

Ever tried to control a real car with a keyboard??... I don´t think that any racing game that claims to be SIM like can be played well with KB. Keys on the KB are digital on off while real driving requires analog intermediate values

I have the bouncing problem as well. i am on 360. Also on my corvette vs porsche race when I try to use the corvette it stays stuck at the finish line. Two more things, when i do settings such as gear ratios or oil cooler openings they never sava and always revert back to the defaults and the Corvette Z06 horsepower and torque numbers are swapped. It has 505hp and 470torque but is the other way around on the game. I hope they fix it soon because its a great game, one of the best so far imo

This is what yeah get when ya play GRID, Previous NFS's, OUTRUN, JUCIED, MIDNIGHT CLUCB etc. (even FORZA) - There's no big Bumps put into the track. The cars don't react like real cars - These games haven't got advance physiocs or handling.

I Have to wait till Midnight to play this game. But I think this game has options to adjust your suspension and shocks right?... if so start there.

I'm running it on a PC and having the same bouncing problems.
At first I thought it was a controller problem (Logitech Driving Force GT), but I´ve tried a lot of different configurations and just got the controller to work better, but the bouncing problems continued. Specially after begginig Tier 2, I found it impossible to drive.
I´ve benn playing a lot of diffent racing games (PC: GTR Evo, GRID - PS3: GT5, F1 Champ.Ed., Ferrari Challenge - Xbox360: Forza2, Race Pro) and never had a problem like this.
I like the game, but to play it, I first need to be able to drive de cars.

We really need a Fix for this!!!!

I have the same problem on the xbox360, i first noticed this as a big problem when i drove my M3 at the spa circuit, the car bounces and jumps and steers like crazy, when i am driving down the kemmel straight and the bus stop chicane the car is almost undriveble, this track is smooth because the F1 cars drives there in +300 without any problems IRL so the programing is crap.
I how there will be a patch that solve this because this makes the game sucks big time

also the grid grils is standing in the middle of the car at spa,so there are bugs that needs to be fixed, and that quickly

i am on the PC, and this is bollocks. i doubt most europeans have encountered this problem as us asians have the game since the 15th, but achieving driver level 17 is tough when even some invitational races are almost unplayable due to the level of suspension bounce.

for instance;

this is the bugatti veyron invitational race which you get circa level 10. hardly playable thanks to the bouncy suspension.

another irritating part is that i can never raise my works GT-R suspension ride height, creating this mess of a car.

yes, the bouncing car is a big problem... it is almost impossible for me to complete the Veyron and Carrera GT invitational race because of that, also the McLaren F1 does that at times during the F1 vs 722 battle...

also the keyboard controls should be less sensitive because even games like GRID are easily playable with keyboard while this game just practically forces you to use a wheel, and not everyone would want to buy it... and drifting is a nightmare... it's IMPOSSIBLE to keep a drift for longer than 4 seconds no matter how much you try... and getting that 4 second mark takes a lot of tries already

I have not had the bouncy suspension yet because I have not tried out the top tiers yet. My problem is that no matter what i do I get massive oversteer so I have spent all of my money in career buying upgrades to try to solve the issue. I have come to realize there is no way to fix it with tuning and upgrades. I have every upgrade except works on my car, i tuned almost to MAX understeer to combat the oversteer, and even tuned down my turning radius. Nothing matters, while all this definitely improves the situation on about 50 percent of the track, the other 50 is spent flying all over the place, oversteering around bends that i clearly slowed down appropriately for. Even slow bends i oversteer like my tires are made of butter.

I REALLY hope they fix these control issues. I have played racing sims for a long long time now, and I cant recall being so disappointed in a release that has the potential to be A BLAST. I think the game is great. There are some decisions that were poorly made like the terrible livery editor, but the racing part of the game i love. I just cant get my car around the track.
