For consoles....they're as close as you'll get to a sim.

I assume you're one of the PC people who think that any game not called GTR is not worth playing.

You can always put words in my mouth and try to pass if their were mine.

short answer: no

Now that there's a discussion area for the patch, fix, update...we can somewhat see a light in the tunnel. Doesn't mean we're there yet folks but, it's a start. I'm not holding my breath but, maybe we'll get our money's worth, someday. We'll see.

You sound like you have been on these forums since nfs launched and that you are displeased with every title, dude get over yourself.

ea are doing a decent job, half the issues you newcomers have are your own doing, I know for a fact I DONT have all these problems you supposedly have and some of my friends are happy with it also, HOWEVER....shift still needs work on things that need solving like internet issues, and not the silly bugs you newcomers make up.

First EA game I've purchased in years. I have a console, as do many others. How, with all your wisdom, can the issues be of our own doing? We're not making "siily bugs" up here my friend. They're in the software, period. Hope they work out your internet issues for you.

I haven't been registered on this forum for along time nor do I post often here. I post mostly on the PS3 Forums since that is the platform i game on. I have played NFS since they first came out in 1994 andthe last 3 games have been problematic for one reason or another from launch. Undercover was worse than Shift from day one and it took BlackBox and extrodinary amount of time to respond and even longer to release a patch that in many cases made the game worse. I applaud SMS for recognizing the problems whether reported by the end users or they have found. It's a good thing you haven't experienced the problems that the MAJORITY of us have on PS3,XBox and the PC version. For the most part I am happy with Shift but will be happier when the problems are resolved for everyone.

Good going EA. Seems shift is going to be playable after all

Implementing the patch will surely make me pick this up again.

MY thoughts exactly

For the next patch #3, I hope they can add color change for manufacture vinyls, also "mirror" function~

This would be a good visual improvement for another patch.

Improved car handling

One of the best lines - maybe they listened up to us modders and we get a Sim mode now? I think I'm going faint if this happens. Hehe joking (last sentence)

I know it's not a popular thought. But after playing GT and Shift I feel that Shift is a more realistic game. But I also feel that many of the aspects that people are asking for are just foolish and ridiculous as they don't necessarily make the game more realistic but just simply less fun. Why does something need be less fun for the majority of people in order to be considered realistic by a minority?

No, the lack of conversion back is not a technical issue. It is something that was done on purpose since it's kind of confusing why someone would convert a race car back to a street car in a racing game.

Is it just me, or is the last corner of Karussel (the 'carousel' corner) a bit ridiculous for mastery? I've been trying for days to get it down, and have every other corner in the game mastered. A bit silly. If it weren't for this corner, I would have the platinum trophy for this game RIGHT NOW.

FIX THE CAROUSEL!!!!

I think he's talking about the issue where you start a race with a Works car, but it drives like a Level 3 car instead - as if the Works mod was never applied.

This was fixed by simply clicking "restart" on the race, and then suddenly the car was uber-powerful like a Works car again.

NEW CONTENT/FUNCTIONALITY
- Increased the maximum number of online players from 8 to 12

With the 2 minute timer in a private room, 12 players is useless you can not get any more than 2 or 3 players in the room with in the 2 minutes, no way will you get 11 players in there. Please get rid of the 2 minute timer.

While the patch details looks promising, nothing was mentioned about addressing the steering lag issue.

In regards to the new patch... nothing was mentioned about fixing the vinyl issues... No mirror, limited scaling and no color choice for manufacturer stickers. I'd like that to be fixed.

This wasn't looked at during the patch. The focus for the team was to work on issues which are harming people's enjoyment of the game.

Because that is what simulations are: convincing in that you don't feel invincible as if the game is holding your hand. If you don't like realism in video games that's fine (most people prefer the user friendly, pick up & play arcade style games, like you said) but it's rather arrogant to call people's desires for a game they anticipated for so long as foolish and ridiculous (not that there aren't posts that could be described as such in these forums). They are understandably disappointed that the game is not exactly as it was touted or was expected... although most people realized what it was if they did their homework and followed along over the later months of development. After all, you can't expect such a popular franchise to alienate a large portion of their player base, but many (including myself) were expecting a bit more realism than what was delivered in SHIFT.

Fortunately I am a PC gamer, so there are plenty of others who feel exactly the same way, including talented modders. I look forward to seeing what they can do to make SHIFT more realistic and challenging in the right ways, but mods can only do so much...

Ultimately, I doubt there were that many PC gamers expecting a full-on racing sim since it's cross-platform, so if they were I guess they were asking too much. Unfortunately, SHIFT is simply a disappointment for some (not just ATI users) and I don't blame them.
