well, im not going to lie, i have no backround in metal other than this game, so i wouldnt know if death metal falls under either of those.

and i chose RecorRok because its like Ragnorok, the end of the world in viking mythology. though i see what your saying.

Upon returning to Magnus, Eddie is "Breifed" about what they now need to do, what stage shows are on. Magnus turns to Eddie, and says "Um, hey man, there have been reports of some strange activity at the Sea of Black Tears, but I really dont want to go down there again man." eddie convinces him to meet him there, and while they dont find anything out of ordinary, suddenly a group of headbangers comes flying in, with a group of Skeletons in hot pursuit. upon defeating the skeletons, eddie learns that he has been cut off from Bladehenge, and that a mysterious woman has landed on the beach where your army parties.

after fighting his way back to the ironheade part of the world, he discovers it has completely been made over- tombs now cover the land, its even darker than the Sea Of Black Tears, etc. fighting his way to Bladehenge, he uses the stragglers he has put together to retake Bladehenge (think when you defend it from lyonwhite, except your attacking), and takes this fight to the beach. he eventually forces the Death Metal army to leave in the boat they came with.

Army: Death's Emisarries (DE, Death Metal)
Leader: Licha (she has shoulder length darker-than-black hair, a bone mask that covers her entire face except eyes and mouth, for cloths, think Dante from Devil May Cry 3, but with a bra instead of that strap, and completely black. bone wings) Weapon: Scythe, Guitar

Units:
Dead Guard *: Skeletons with swords and sheilds. 6 guys for 50-75 fans. any other unit in the game will flatten them, 1 on 1. T1

Neophyte: man drabbed in robes. slight healing bonus to all units around him. T1

Skull pult (this unit is not supposed to be * marked): a catapult pulled by two (undead) horses. this catapult launches flaming, screaming skulls that explode upon impact,5 skulls in a spread pattern. Destroys infantry. T2

Bone Giant *: a giant man of bones. carries a bone sword. destroyes buildings and vehicles, moves slow. about the same size as a Hate Cage. T3

Acolyte: a deader, more powerful man drabbed in robes: moderate healing bonus to all units around him, stacks with Neophyte. T3

Necromancer: A giant man being borne upon 4 Dead Guard holding their sheilds up, creating a Palaquin for him. While he is alive, he will start to ressurect all corpses (see footnote) one at a time. T4.

Solos:
Dead Reckoning: buff solo. all of your units deal and take more damage for a short time.
Necromorphica: Raises all corpses near you, to create * marked units. T1 looong recharge timer.

* units donated with this leave a "permanent corpse", which can be resurected back later with the solo Necromorphica or the Necromancer. this can allow this army to break the limit, to a maximum of 80 (double of everyone else, but only with these units. keep in mind that they are made to be weak, and easily killed. they are, essentially, the zerg army. weak individually, but a whole hell of a lot of them.

thoughts?

Ironheade - Traditional/Power Metal
Drowning Doom - Doom/Gothic/Black/Metalcore(Deathcore?)
Tainted Coil - Industrial Metal
Hair Metal Militia - Glam Metal

That leaves a few other Metal genres left unexploited :o

Groove, Thrash, Death, Alternative, and Nu Metal still havent been implimented so I bet there will be something like that

"Through the woods a girl came sadly. Something broken in her chest. She had dared to love another. Alas, no better than the rest. Up my path the girl came gladly. Something opened up my doors. I longed to stop her bleeding heart."

Well there is the problem with death metal faction is that it is too close to drowning doom and the goal is to make factions that are completely different then the other three. It a great idea and you put a lot of thought into it but the color palette are too similar. Funk Metal would be great direction to go in, with Rage Against the Machine leading the fight. Nu Metal though is hated by most metal fans so that is a bad idea. with my punk idea ill go meet you half way with Thrash Metal as it is for the most part just Hardcore Punk with better singers. most hardcore punk band end up in this category, as It happen to both Dead Kennedys and Black Flag, Henry Rollins would be a great leader. on top of all of this other Islands gods didn't have go in the same path as them and do whatever rock genre they wanted.

fair enough, though instead of gloomy-like, they could be eerie green. necromatic power and such.

and dont worry, beleive me, ive had alot of idea's put down, some of them which ive spent more thought than this. this was just a single nights work of idea (and brainstorming as i wrote it), but other than that, no thought required.

do you like the avatar idea's i gave both armies?

Glam Metal is hated also(By some), im rather certain these metalheads will get over it and not play as the Nu Metal fans, this game wasnt just meant for "tr00" metal fans. But I agree probably a mix between Funk/Nu/Rap/Groove metal would be appropriate for another game. And Death Metal is to close to DD I agree. But another thing is Death Metal isnt really gloomy like DD, there more necromantic/evil/hatred a kinda mix between TC and DD but diffrent all together.

Alternative Metal however would be a great idea as it is EXTREMELY flexable, but doesent really have a stereotype to it considering how flexible it is.

p.s: Razorbore you're idea about Death Metal is good it just needs more diveristy then undead/necromancy keep in mind we have to make it obvious its talking about death metal, make some parody units.

problem is, is i dont know a thing about metal other than what this game has "taught" me. i dont know parodies, and having listened to some of the songs in here, i cant really tell what makes metal... metal. other than a kickass attitude, (mostly) singing other than that deep voice thing that slipnot does, and guitar solos, i know nothing of metal.

i mean, if i knew some good death metal songs (and you know, got the feel of it) i could probably do alot better than just "death" (as DD has a reaper already)

edit: is alternative kinda like techno? (so, would Powerman 5000 be considered alternative?)

I would like to see some kind of progressive metal faction containing alien like units and the avatar looks like a Tool member.

Someone also posted an idea about a grunge faction on a different board. I know grunge isn't metal but it would be awesome. An army existing out of mentally ill, disaffected angry teenagers led by a Cobain wannabe. He would be an absolutely insane but awesome dude and his solos would exist of power chords and a screaming.

Here's my idea
The Rusted Gear-Clockwork mechanical beings made by the Titans to help maintain and build there giant cars and buildings. When the Titans Left, the go underground to avoid the Tainted Coils anger. Some can be imprisoned at the TC homeland, being torn apart for fun since they refuse to devulge Titan secrets. If eddie helps them however, they can offer more upgrades in the motor forge. This would even the playing field since its currently one good army against two bad ones.Havent thought of any units yet but i have names!
Wrenchmonger
Welder
Riveter
oh and they like their music sounding HEAVY
Suggestions and thoughts are welcome

darknoss: the only things wrong with your idea is that you didnt tie it into any music genre (or music related thing), and you didnt give the army a "purpose"... is it supposed to be shooty? mass numbers? few units but rip things apart? what is it? the story idea is cool, but what makes this army unique?

Haven't thought of music that fits yet.... but mass numbers would help ironheade alot since they were scraping by anyway. Tool weapons like a pit crew or something. Were does death metal fit cause DD is goth and TC is industrious? It would apply well to this faction since the sound is heavy like machinery. Anyone have ideas for an avatar or units? Like someone using a wrench that looks like devil horns( kind of like ormagodens hand)thrash could work too

History:
Metal is a genre of music evolving from Rock music. It started with bands like Blue Cheer(I dont give a damn what metal archives say, they are metal!) and Black Sabbath in the late 1960's early 1970's. Around the near mid 70's Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden which you can call traditional metal. Around the late 70's/early 80's heavy metal mixed with Glam rock and formed Glam metal, which is the flambouyantly dressed bands you see in the 80's.
Which are basically bands like Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Scarlet Red, etc. That was the first time metal had reached the mainstream and when it finally earned a massive fanbase. To counter the Glam Metal movement bands such as Slayer, Metallica, and Megadeth were formed under the genre of Thrash Metal, Death Metal soon came from thrash metal and so on and so forth. Then in the early 90's a genre of Metal emurged called grunge appeared, it had a short lifespan and I believe was replaced by Nu Metal, which includes bands like KoRn, Early Slipknot, and Early Disturbed. Now were in the 2000's and we have Metalcore and Deathcore. Just do a little exploring and you'll get the idea.

What Makes Metal Metal
Metal is perhaps the most complex form of pop music(YES, metal is indeed pop music, just more obscure and misunderstood). It has a huge influence in riffs from genres like Classical, Blues, and Jazz and the riff is a prime factor in defining if something is metal. Notice as Metal evolved its riffs were still very similar. But its not only the riffs, bands like Sum 41 play metal riffs and arnt metal. It also has to do with association, you have to associate the music with metal, not nessicarily saying image, but association.

Heres some examples of metal
Traditional Metal: Iron Maiden - Flash of the Blade
Glam Metal: Motley Crue - Dr Feelgood
Thrash Metal: Kreator - Any song by them really
Power Metal: ManO'War - I believe
Death Metal: Arsis - We are the Nightmare
Grunge(Grunge really I dont consider metal except for a few bands,Nirvana I dont find metal): Alice in Chains - Rooster
Nu Metal: Korn - Falling Away from Me
Metalcore: All That Remains - This Calling

By the way dont let people * you with stuff like *insert genre isnt metal* its up to you and what YOU believe is metal dont let anyone else tell you what it is and what it isnt, the grunge part above is just my opinion and I did admit a few grunge bands have enough metal in them. Also the term Heavy Metal is more along the lines just used to describe ALL the genres of metal, not bands like Iron Maiden, etc.

Edit:
P.S. Here are some stereotypes
Traditional Metal: Basically alot like Ironheade in BL
Power Metal: Sings about fantasy and is generally stereotyped as Lotor metal xD
Glam Metal: Basically like the Hair Metal militia.
Thrash Metal: There fans are agressive and violent
Death Metal: Same with thrash but more detailed such as they use weapons such as hacksaws, calipers, kinda like horror movie stuff.
Goth Metal: Drowning doom -_-
Industrial Metal: Tainted coil!!!
Nu Metal: Angry white teenagers o_o
Metalcore: Emo fringes galor! Sorta refered to as Emo Metal sometimes, but thats not true in the slightest bit!

Eddie Riggs is talking to Ophelia in front of blade henge (the same area, lionwhyte defense mission) when suddenly, something happens to leave a crater in the ground. upon exploring this underground area, Eddie and Oph discover a man who has invented millions of bug-like machines, each with its own role in his underground "kingdom", of which he is the only living soul. He decides he wants to bust out of his underground "prison", as he has come to see it (though no one keeps him down there), and his main route out is through eddie and Oph. thats about all i have of this story.

army: Insect Icide (II, Alternative Metal, might accidently be techno)

Leader: Roach (a tall, slim human in a black suit, with a pair of neon stripes running off his shoulders down his legs. has bug wings (the ones that move so fast you cant see them) which buzz while he flies) his weapons are claws (and the guitar, talks with a kinda robotic voice)

song(s):
Powerman 5000: Bombshell (shouldnt be too hard to get this, lead singers brother is rob zombie, and he already contributed)

army colors: mostly black with neon/bright/glowy colored stripes. all units are actually bug-like, so Mites would be crawling around on its legs

units:

Mites: basic melee attackers with a passable amount of damage but move very fast. when destroyed, pulses a small electrical charge that deals a small amount of damage and stuns nearby models (friend and foe). double teaming sees roach picking one up and flinging it at his targeted enemy, causing it to attach to an enemy and initiate a timer, turning that model into a ticking time bomb. T1

Mechapillers: a unit of crawlers who squirm around with laser pods attached to their sides. VERY long range, low damage. double teaming has Roach pick one up and curl it into a ball, rolling it forward, and lazer fire goes everywhere. T1

Moths: a single, mansized moth that flies above the enemy unit, raining down lazer death out of its legs. when its health reaches 20%, it enters "suicide mode", stops flying, and crashes down on the enemy unit, dealing a small amount of damage and inflicting moderate damage in fire damage to nearby models (friend and foe). Double Teaming will have Roach hold it, firing a constant stream of lazers out of its legs. T1

Termites: a unit that deals ALOT of damage to vehicles and bases, they are really slow. however, when they die, they explode, dealing moderate damage to everything in the vacinity. Double Teaming causes them to burry themselves underground, becoming sentiant mines which explode upon contact with the enemy (excellent for stage defense). T2

Mantices: a unit similar to the bouncer, it has pincers that deal heavy damage to infantry instead of infantry. when it dies, it stuns and moderatly hurts every unit around it (friend and foe). double teaming has Roach grab its legs, spin it around, and slice up nearby units (couldnt think of anything better). T3

MEGA ROACH: a giant Roach (bug, not character) that deals damage similar to that of the Rock Crusher when not double teamed. When doubleteamed, however, you can fire a line of (swirling) rockets that create a line in front of you, dealing moderate damage. where this unit really shines, however, is that it causes a MASSIVE explosion upon dieing, dealing huge amounts of damage to everything around it (friend and foe, many an avatar will die in the making of this movie) (details upon why this is significant later). final unit

Specialty:
this army deals a passible amount of damage by itself, however, thats not what its purpose is. its purpose is to, quite simply, blow up. most units would have a "death trigger", an effect that initiates upon it dieing. this would have to be balanced perfectly! in order to work, and even then, you would have to know what your doing with it. when even one of your units (hello, MEGA ROACH) dies, its going to cause a massive chain reaction, causing massive damage to every enemy unit as your units blow themselves up. some units wouldnt explode, as their ment to be whats left afterwards (like the mechapillers). you would also run the risk of having your army blow itself up if it didnt close in fast enough.

what do you think?

hmmmm.....not sure about the bug thing, but sounds good! For mine i was going for angry pit crew/mechanics. I also like the name greasefist for unit or faction but i still like the rusted gear. I like your earlier idea of a being that is like a record producer and is a representation of evil corp. Maybe a different herald than a copycat lars. what we need is another good army since 2 are evil. All these ideas sound great, i hope tim looks at these!
