I'm going to assume you were referring to me, even though you did not say so.

If i'm a pessimist, what would you call someone, who always take a person at their word even though that person constantly disappoints them and that persons' MO is always the same?

I have a few adjectives but hot would you describe that someone?

Initial D recreations. Picture it now; its a boring Sunday afternoon, you log in for a bit of free-roam. You glide down the canyon run only to find some guy coming up behind you and flashing his lights - woah, the race is on and you're feeling the blood race as you fight to keep in front. Success! Your boring Sunday afternoon has become one that you can retell to dull co-workers or half-interested school chums and turn them into admiring fans!

cem_ea_id.Kaizeras wrote:And what about cop chases in the canyons?! Where are you going to hide?

You mean you dont think hurtling down a canyon run with cops behind you, trying desperately to stay on the road and not spin out to your death (or at least to heavy repair bills), doesnt sound the teeniest bit exciting to you? It sure does to me!

The screens look awesome though, its nice to see the effort thats going into touching up the graphics and so on - it could have been very easy to downgrade the grapics to MW levels and be like, "Oh yeah, we had to do that to keep lag down and not because we couldnt be arsed, no siree.".

Bravo, devs, bravo.

Well, its been a long time since I've ventured onto these forums. I have to say that this NFS is my favorite of the new 3 games. A newly redesigned Rockport and Palmont. I can hardly wait.

It sounds more interesting when its on the streets, where you're hitting your rival's back bumper and wondering in which street is he going to turn. The cops show up,the traffic becomes harder to dodge. The clock is ticking and you're still stuck on your rival's back .Then you make a critical decision - you press the NOS button and your car flies but in result changing lanes becomes harder and you have the feeling that the traffic gets heavier...now you're side by side with the other racer and every single move changes the score. The time is short, and you have to act fast. The cops are desperately trying to reach you but all you think of is how to outrun your opponent. And then, while speeding with 210 miles per hour you see a roadblock. You were so concentrated into the race that you haven't heard that the police are setting up a road block. Everything happens in a mater of a second - there's a gap on the right side of the blockade but you're on the left. You know what to do but there's no time to think on it - your last bottle of NOS suddenly got burned. This causes your car to reach its RPM limit in last gear and now you hear the engine roaring...your opponent is at your back and the roadblock seems too close to be dodged. Then you just start steering rightwards,at maximum speed...your tires scream in screech, your engine is about to blow up but you don't press the brakes . In the next moment, you pass around the block and your opponent bashes in it at full speed.

And here's an exciting Sunday afternoon...

p.s English is not my mother language which means that I don't have rich enough vocabulary to describe the situation better. I hope it was at least decent.

Well said Kaizeras, but really, how can you not say no to a outrun race in the canyons? Seriously. Although yes that does sound like great adrenaline but you would have exactly the same adrenaline if you would do that in the canyons. Instead of cops and traffic, its replaced with a breakable barrier which means that one wrong move could mean disaster. So really, why not have an outrun race like in NFSU2 at a canyon, not just at a city.

Dont say no to anything (except drugs, kids - they're bad), be greedy and have every race type going! Just because you may not like one particular race type does not mean you have to play it.

I didn't say no. Such races may be exciting but street racing is going to be the opportunity for now.
I said "for now" because I'm sure we may see such kind of racing in the Bayview hills..when the expansion comes out.
There will be still canyon racing but not in free roam unfortunately. The world seems big enough to me and there are more important game features to be looked at.

People always want more but there should be some kind of consensus .

As for the drugs and kids,I'd like to add alcohol and tobacco. The last two are used very widely around here...the age limit is wide too...
There always will be stupid enough people who'll slowly suicide.
The only thing you MUST NEVER SAY NO is sex - its the only thing which is free (it has exceptions though ) ,fun and healthy if you know how to protect yourself (condoms always in the back pocket) .

Lol! Spot on! I guess you're right. I just wanted these canyons because they connect Rockport and Palmont together. With me, all games (including MMO's) must have a great plot and storyline because after I'm done with the storyline, that's it. I probably won't touch the disk again. The storyline keeps me going in games. That's why I wanted at least Lookout point canyon track because that's the track that you come from Rockport to Palmont. Therefore, the story is more engaging, more fun and basically keeps you going. Who agrees that story lines are important?

Dominator, I totally hear ya on the story aspect of games. NFS has always tried hard to establish a good story (with various levels of success) to help set us apart from other racing games.

Just to clarify though, the canyons never directly linked Rockport and Palmont. Time had passed between Most Wanted and Carbon...so don't think of the canyons as necessary to connect the two cities. They were always meant to be on opposite coasts, but we're changing the fiction to accomodate a better gameplay experience for NFS: World Online. So that meant rethinking how these two cites connect.

The canyons in Carbon were loaded tracks that made for some exciting moments. Some people loved them, some hated them, but nowhere in any of my posts did I shoot down the idea of Canyons in World Online. I simply said Bayview was an extreme long shot due to the effort required to upgrade that city.

Wish I could tell you all of the exciting ideas we have, but it's still too early to divulge our plans.

Cheers!

Oh,so my hypothesis about the great earthquake that sank the canyons between Rockport and Palmont fits perfectly!

People complain that they are "loaded" tracks , not included in free roam.
I've checked the NFSWO media folder and found the event icons , I know that there will be canyon races in WO
Personally, I think Canyons won't be much visited place in free roam but that's just my opinion.

If they build them, I will idle there just so I can take a screenshot of me doing so and go "nyahh" to you
