Ok, so you're not even getting to that point. What video card do you have and what drivers are you running. What version of Phys-X are you running?

I have a asus nvidia 9600gt with the most up to date drivers, and I thought the phys-x is installed with it, and if not, then I have the version from the nfs shift dvd.

This games work pretty much perfect on mycomputer:

Inter Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
3.24 Gb RAM
GeForce 9600 GT

Everything on medium (8xAA) and very smooth gameplay with 15 cars on the track.

Only glich I have encountered is starting a race without a bonnet.
In the demo the sky disappeared.
Other than that - perfect No hang-up's, crashes, freezes etc.

Awesome game with fantastic sense of speed and the first one where I just love playing from within the car (dash or bonnet view).

Have fun!

I would try uninstall the game, then phys-x, and finally your video drivers. Reboot. Ignore windows trying to reinstall any drivers if you get them. (or cancel them) Download the latest 180 series driver from Nvidia (don't use the 190 series for now). Install it, along with whatever version of phys-x came with it. Reboot. Now install NFS Shift. What does it do now?

Torque. Period.

i have the full version on the 360, but i also have the PC demo on my Asus gaming laptop, with 64-bit Vista on it. It seems to run just fine without crashing.

i played it on Windows using my wired Xbox 360 controller, which also works great.

The game launches, but it crashes after the initial movie, so I am left staring at my desktop

I abhor/loathe/dislike it!

nfs_web.MC.Crime wrote:

My PC has all the minimum requirements, and the graphics setting is set to the lowest possible setting

^^

Thats what i was referring to, now i understand.

dxdiag would be nice, log error for the crash would be even better.

control panel > adminstartive options > event viewer = system log (XP)
